Not just your ordinary LEGO

Posted by innovativeip on September 10, 2010

Today’s Patent of the Day is U.S. Patent no. 6,616,500, issued September 9, 2003, and entitled “Toy Building Set and a Vehicle Therefor”.

Today's Patent of the Day

At first glance, you may wonder how a LEGO vehicle could be patentable.  However, if you take a closer look, the vehicle of this Patent of the Day has a very unique set of axles, wherein each can pivot about a central point.  As a result, the axles do not have to remain parallel to one another, thus enabling the navigation of tight turns on a LEGO track.  Rather ingenious.  I’d like to get those on my car, please.

If you’d like to take a look at the particulars of the structure, you can read the entire patent at http://www.innovativeip.us/ofinterest.html.  Enjoy!

Welcome Back after a Long Labor Day Respite

Posted by innovativeip on September 8, 2010

Excited to be back at the blog after a few days R&R.  And, I think you will find today’s Patent of the Day to be unique.  U.S. Patent no. 5,804,235 was issued September 8, 1998, and entitled “Edible Toy Figures Constructed of Breakfast Cereal”.

Today's Patent of the Day

The overall product would seem to take on an appearance similar to that of, say, a RICE KRISPY treat, shaped into something.  Difference being, however, that when placed in a bowl and with milk poured onto it, it “disintegrates” into your average every day bowl of cereal.  Although I’ve never come across such a product (yet), as a mother, I can imagine that this could be a great seller.  What little boy wouldn’t want (1) a monster or dinosaur shaped out of cereal, and (2) to watch it disintegrate as the milk is poured on?  Sounds like a fun start to the day.

She’s a Real Bubble Head

Posted by innovativeip on August 24, 2010

Today’s Patent of the Day is a true bubble head.  U.S. Patent no. 5,238,437 was issued August 24, 1993, for a “Bubble Dispensing Doll.”

Today's Patent of the Day

She’s a Mattel Mermaid with an internal, battery-driven bubble producing mechanism.  Although I was not successful in identifying such a product on the market, it does seem that with the combination of (1) doll, (2) mermaid, and (3) bubble blowing, it could be a little girl’s dream toy.  My son had the “bubble gun”, which was very cool, but very “boy”.

If you’d like to take a look at the mermaid’s bubble head details, you can download today’s Patent of the Day at http://www.innovativeip.us/images/pat5238437.8.24.pdf.  Enjoy!
