Today’s Patent of the Day is U.S. Patent no. 6,616,500, issued September 9, 2003, and entitled “Toy Building Set and a Vehicle Therefor”.
At first glance, you may wonder how a LEGO vehicle could be patentable. However, if you take a closer look, the vehicle of this Patent of the Day has a very unique set of axles, wherein each can pivot about a central point. As a result, the axles do not have to remain parallel to one another, thus enabling the navigation of tight turns on a LEGO track. Rather ingenious. I’d like to get those on my car, please.
