Innovative IP Welcomes 2011!

Posted by innovativeip on January 9, 2011

After a long hiatus, I am pleased to return to the Patent of the Day, and with a new plan for 2011.  I’ve missed perusing and reporting on interesting, astounding, and sometimes funny patents.  The New Year offers a perfect opportunity for a new start, and a new format.  In the past, daily entries were not only challenging to keep up with on my end, but readers reported the same, and so, the 2011 Patent of the Day subject matter will become a weekly feature.

The inaugural 2011 patent was selected from those issued 100 years ago, the first week of January, 1911.  U.S. Patent no. 980207 was issued January 3, 1911 for a baseball game:

Antique games and toys are so much fun, and if you are a fan of any of the reality television shows that focus on the market values of such collectibles, you likely wish one of these had been passed down.  If you’d like to read the entire patent, just click through to the “of interest” page at http://www.innovative-ip.net.  Should you happen across one of these at a yard sale or thrift shop, check for the patent marking.  How exciting would it be to stumble on such a 100-year-old find?  Enjoy!
