Fall is in the Air

Posted by innovativeip on September 3, 2010

The air is becoming a touch cooler, and I can feel Fall approaching.  Today’s Patent of the Day, U.S. Patent no. 4,539,011, issued September 3, 1985, seems appropriate, as we head into cool Fall evenings.

Today's Patent of the Day

The patent describes an early-days artificial fireplace log, obviously flammable, yet encased in a “difficultly burnable” sleeve adapted with targeted ignition points.  I admit that I love evenings with a fire in the fireplace, and artificial logs are an easy and wonderful path to a pretty fire.  And, while I do miss the popping sound of real wood, I don’t miss the burning embers flying out onto the hearth.

If you’ve ever wondered about the dynamics of articificial firelogs, you can read today’s Patent of the Day at http://www.innovativeip.us/images/pat4539011.9.3.pdf.  Enjoy!
