Frozen Daiquiri, Anyone?

Posted by innovativeip on August 27, 2010

Today’s Patent of the Day is U.S. Patent no. 2,213,166, issued August 27, 1940, for an “Ice Crusher”.

Today's Patent of the Day

Reportedly, in the 1940’s, around the time when this patent was issued, daiquiri’s became very popular because whiskey and vodka were subject to wartime rationing, but rum was plentiful.  In fact, the daiquiri is reported to have been a favorite of John F. Kennedy and Ernest Hemingway.  What great timing for Rival to have introduced this ice crusher.
