Lucky Patent No. 1,000,000, and Aren’t We Spoiled?

Posted by innovativeip on August 9, 2010

Yesterday was the anniversary of U.S. Patent no. 1,000,000 (a very cool patent number, indeed), issued August 8, 1911.

Sunday's Patent of the Day

The patent describes a vehicle tire, and if you take a closer look, you’ll discover that the tire is formed with a wooden interior ring and some pretty serious tread.  Hmmm, I guess in 1911 the roads were a challenge, likely quite a ride.  Aren’t we spoiled by our roads and tires of today?

And, while on the subject of being spoiled, check out today’s Patent of the Day, U.S. Patent no. 106,137, issued August 9, 1870 for a Washing Machine.

Today's Patent of the Day

I’m sure it was a huge improvement over a washboard, and if you had one of these, you were probably the envy of all the laundresses, but, really, take a look.  Aren’t we spoiled?  Or, maybe it was actually an idea before it’s time…combination workout and washing machine.  “Wow, look at her biceps!  How does she do it?”  “It’s the time-saving, productivity-improving washer-workout.”  What do you think?

You can see both patents in their entirety at www.innovative-ip.net, on the “of interest” page.  Enjoy!
